Hello Parents of St. Finn Barr,
Summer time will be here before you know it. Many of you are planning a summer full of exciting activities and fond memories for your child to look back on. We are excited to announce that the St. Finn Barr Art Camp is back for its second year and registration is open now!
This year in order to better meet the needs of a wider range of students we’ve split the camp into two sessions. Session One will be for children entering 1st - 3rd grade. It will run for 2 weeks from Monday June 13th - Friday June 24th. Session One will focus on helping students become familiar with a large range of materials and supplies. We will use everything from crayons to watercolors while covering a range of topics from cartooning to collage. Great emphasis will be placed on helping children develop their own artistic vision. Experimentation will be encouraged as we provide a strong creative foundation with a wide range of tools.
At the SFB Drawing Camp we want to provide opportunities for exercise and play as well as artistic instruction. When children play and exert themselves physically their cognitive abilities are enhanced and their creativity is improved. Each day will include lessons and projects as well as recess and group games.
Session one will include a number of field trips. We will be taking our lunches to Sunnyside park two times a week. Sunnyside is a beautiful park with a tremendous playground. It provides a safe, fun environment to draw from life as well as run and play. We will also be taking a field trip to the Children’s Creativity Museum. Admission will include access to the “Imagination Lab” as well as a one-hour activity facilitated by a museum educator.
Enrollment in the camp is $250.00 as well as a $50.00 materials fee and $20.00 to cover the cost of field trips. Total cost for enrollment is $320.00. The St. Finn Barr Art Camp begins at 8:00 am, Monday through Friday and ends at 3:00 each day. Aftercare will be available from 3:00 - 5:00 for an additional $6.00 an hour.
We look forward to helping your artists grow!
