St. Finn Barr Comics Club

Dear Parents of St. Finn Barr,

I am excited to announce the creation of the first ever St. Finn Barr Comics Club. Is your child obsessed with comics like, Bone, Smile, or Amulet? Are they forever doodling in the margins of their homework or school notes? If so, I am pleased to announce a constructive outlet for your child’s creative tendencies. Beginning February 2nd, St. Finn Barr will be hosting its first ever Comics Club. The Club is open to students 5th grade or older. Kids will write, draw, hand letter and print their very own mini graphic novel.

Using a curriculum called Drawing Words & Writing Pictures, St. Finn Barr’s Comic’s club will offer lessons on lettering, story, structure, panel layout, and much more, providing a solid introduction for people interested in making their own comics. Drawing Words & Writing Pictures is a comics educational project with textbook and web components. Club members will learn to properly use and care for tools of the trade such as t-squares, dip pens, brushes, and the ames lettering guide. Over the course of 12 weeks, we will create comics ranging from a single panel to 3-4 pages in length.

The St. Finn Barr comics club is for anyone who enjoys drawing. All skill levels are welcome. Making comic books is not as hard as you may think, but it does require dedication. The more you work the better your comics will be. The St. Finn Barr Comics club will meet from 3:30 - 5:00pm Tuesday and Thursdays from February 2nd - April 28th.

The cost of enrolling in The SFB Comic Club is $175.00 plus a $25.00 materials fee. There are 15 spots available. Sign up quickly as spots will be reserved on a first come first serve basis. Please sign up by January 5th, 2016. Feel free to reach me at
