Important School Updates

MONDAY | JULY 13, 2020

Dear St. Finn Barr Families,

In collaboration with the San Francisco Department of Public Health and the Archdiocesan Department of Catholic Schools, we have created a framework for the reopening of our school on August 19th, 2020. While all contents are subject to change in deference to local, state, and federal mandates, we have plans to safely open our campus under the guidance and recommendations of the San Francisco Department of Public Health and the Archdiocesan Department of Catholic School.

With this information in mind, there are two important updates that I would like to bring to your attention.

Schoolwide Meeting Re: St. Finn Barr Catholic School's Infection Mitigation Plan
There will be a schoolwide meeting on Wednesday, July, 29th at 6:30pm via Zoom. This meeting will provide parents an opportunity to learn about the framework of St. Finn Barr's reopening plan. You may pose your questions through this Google Form, and I will address them during the meeting. Please submit your questions by Monday, July 27th. Before submitting your questions, I suggest you preview the presentation slide deck that is attached to this email.

If you cannot attend this meeting, we will share a recording of the meeting via email on Thursday, July 30th.

Kindergarten and First Grade Classes on Campus
After much thought and many conversations with the Archdiocesan Department of Catholic Schools and San Francisco's Department of Public Health, I am thrilled to announce that we can safely have both the kindergarten and first-grade classes on campus Monday through Friday.

We will utilize Goode Hall (under the church sanctuary) for our first-grade classroom during the first trimester. This space will safely hold all first-grade students and allows for 6 feet of space between each desk.

While the first-grade class uses Goode Hall, the kindergarten class will utilize both the kindergarten and first-grade classrooms. We will divide the kindergarten class into two cohorts. While Cohort A receives direct instruction from Mrs. O'Reilly, Cohort B will work on independent work with the kindergarten instructional aide. While Cohort B receives direct instruction from Mrs. O'Reilly, the kindergarten instructional aide will work with Cohort A.

I am pleased that we can offer this opportunity for our youngest learners so that as they adjust to the daily structure of school, we can ensure as few disruptions as possible.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and patience as we design a safe reopening. I look forward to sharing our plan with all of you on Wednesday, July 29th, at 6:30pm.

Best,
Ms. Megan Kimble
